VARD submits comments to DEQ on 2010 Statewide Water Quality Status Report
On November 29, 2010 VARD submitted comments to DEQ requesting that the Teton River be listed as a water body which does not meet current water quality standards and for which a Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) must be established. Friends of the Teton River has tracked 10 years of water quality data, and this river has consistently shown excessively high dissolved Nitrogen concentrations.
In our letter, we highlighted the huge number of lots recently platted in close proximity to the Teton River and its surrounding wetlands. As these lots are built out, residential development will continue to impact this already-impaired river.
