The long awaited study from ECONorthwest was released last week. The study was funded jointly by Teton County(s) ID and WY as well as contributing funds from Alta Solid Waste District. The study will supplement the consulting firm SE Group's study during the Caribou-Targhee National Forest’s environmental impact statement process. The main takeaway is that the revenue from future development in WY will not outweigh the costs of the burden to ID infrastructure, emergency services, and housing markets, to name a few.

“It’s a critical big-picture analysis of the economic situation in our county,” TCID Commissioner Cindy Riegel said on Monday. “In some ways we’re doing well, but we can’t keep up with infrastructure and growth even without Grand Targhee expansion. And at least with growth within our county we receive impact fees and property taxes, but when it happens in Wyoming we get nothing.”
