Rinaldi steps down as VARD Executive Director
Kathy Rinaldi, Executive Director for Valley Advocates for Responsible Development (VARD) recently announced her decision to reduce her workload at VARD in order to prepare and devote more time to her expanding family. The Rinaldis are expecting a second child in early November. “Kathy has really taken VARD to a new level in a time of intensified growth pressure in Teton Valley” said Georgie Stanley, Board President “It is going to be hard to find someone to fill Kathy’s shoes but we understand and respect her devotion to her family.”
Sandy Mason, VARD Program Director, will serve as interim Executive Director. Sandy has been with VARD since its founding in 2001; originally serving as a board member and then as Program Director, a position he has held for the past 3 years.
Rinaldi intends to remain as a staff member of the citizens’ advocacy group in a position that offers more flexibility and time for her family. “I’ve always been very passionate about social and environmental justice, which is why I was originally attracted to VARD’s work. The work that VARD is doing today is incredibly important to the long-term sustainability and future of Teton Valley. I feel confident that VARD will continue to be an effective voice for responsible development in Teton Valley especially under the guidance and leadership of Sandy as the interim ED. He has and will continue to be a tremendous asset to VARD and its work,” stated Rinaldi.
