County adopts Groundwater Protection Ordinance
The ordinance requires developers to conduct a nutrient pathogen study if a proposed development lies within a designated wetland. Other attributes of a development can trigger this ordinance (for example: industrial applications with more than 600 gallons of wastewater per day, or the existence of specific soil qualities at the site). The ordinance was based on the results of a study completed through collaboration with VARD, the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality, the University of Idaho, the Environmental Protection Agency, and Friends of the Teton River.
