11th Annual Mad Hatter Party & Auction, October 11

VARD Celebrates 11th Anniversary of Mad Hatter Party & Auction,
Friday, October 11th at Alpine Wines, 6-9pm!

(Driggs, ID) – Join Valley Advocates for Responsible Development (VARD) as we celebrate over a decade of land, water, and wildlife advocacy in Teton Valley. Each year, VARD's wacky Mad Hatter Party & Auction at Alpine Wines in Driggs commemorates notable valley issues in Teton Valley.  Over the years, local revelers have gone to great lengths to construct and engineer headpieces that depict various land uses and events in Teton Valley. Past hats have depicted golf courses, annexations, noxious weeds and sprawling subdivisions as contestants vie for cash prizes.

This year’s hat contest theme is “Dream Jobs,” emphasizing the economic development opportunities that are possible in Teton Valley. Hats are not required to attend the event, but are encouraged. In addition to the hat competition, the evening festivities include homemade food, drinks from Alpine Wines and Grand Teton Brewery, live music, and both live and silent auction items.

This year’s auction items reflect the generosity of our selfless donors in Teton Valley. The Hokin family, who owns and operates the Teton Valley Creamery, has donated a 7-night stay at the world-famous Bitter End Yacht Club in the British Virgin Islands for the fifth year in a row.  Other auction items include a Grand Targhee Resort Winter Adult Grand Season Pass, Telemark ski bindings from TwentyTwo Designs, an overnight yurt rental from Teton Backcountry Guides, gift certificates for 5-7 night accommodations at Elite Island Resorts in the Caribbean (in Antigua, St. Lucia, Barbados, and Panama), and much more! Special thanks goes to Alpine Wines and Grand Teton Brewery.

More information about the 11th Annual Mad Hatter Party and the fabulous auction items, raffle prizes and more can be found here:. Admission is $25 per person or $45 per couple, which includes dinner and drinks. Proceeds support our program efforts to promote responsible, fair, and predictable land-use development and the sustainable use of natural resources in Teton Valley.

Can’t make it to the party?  You can even submit bids for auction items via email or phone prior to noon Mountain Time on the day of the party or have a proxy bidder at the event. Items will be posted online on our Web site and bidding begins on Friday, October 4th. Thank you for your support, and we look forward to seeing you at the Mad Hatter!
