Dog Grooming Home Business CUP
The Teton County Planning & Zoning Commission heard a conditional use permit (CUP) application for a small dog grooming business currently being run out of a bully barn on a 2.15-acre property in Fox Creek Estates. The public comment in support of this tiny business was overwhelming. P&Z’s deliberation was very brief because this low-impact business is well-screened to blend in with the neighborhood. With no signage, outdoor lighting, visible equipment, or noise, this use perfectly fits the definition of a home business, thus almost no substantive conditions were required. Unlike previous CUPs that have to be managed by imposing several restrictive conditions in an attempt to make them “fit in” with the surrounding area, this CUP was an easy fit for the neighborhood. Finally, a square peg in a square hole!
*Because of a noticing error, the P & Z will rehear the CUP application at their next meeting. P & Z recommended approval of the CUP, however, in order to afford proper notice and opportunity for public comment, the additional hearing will be held and P & Z will be asked to make a fresh recommendation at that time.
