VARD hosts Teton Valley Farm & Ranch Tour October 4th
(Driggs, ID) – Valley Advocates for Responsible Development (VARD) will host a Teton Valley Farm and Ranch Tour on Saturday, October 4th. This first of a kind event in Teton Valley, Idaho is generously sponsored by grants through 1% for the Tetons and the Community Foundation of Teton Valley. Building on the success of VARD’s Sustainable Homes Tour last year, VARD will once again host a group of 20 participants during an educational tour aimed at shining the limelight on the rich agricultural heritage and innovative farms and ranches prospering in Teton Valley.
Agricultural producers participating in the tour include Snowdrift Farm in Victor (an organic, small acreage farm), H.D. Dunn and Son Angus Ranch in Tetonia (a grassfed, natural beef ranch), and Arnold Farms in Felt (a fourth generation, certified seed potato farm that is part of the Teton Seed Marketing Association). The tour will provide a hands-on learning opportunity for community members about the economic value and opportunities in agriculture today in Teton Valley. “We hope that our education and outreach efforts illuminate the challenges and opportunities agriculture producers face in our area so that we can work together as a community to preserve this shared and important community value and way of life,” says Jen Werlin, VARD’s Communications and Outreach Manager.
The farm tour will begin at 9am and will wrap up around 3pm. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. To reduce the amount of vehicles needed for the tour, VARD will provide a passenger van and encourage participants to carpool. The tour is limited to 20 participants, and advanced registration is required by Thursday, October 2nd. The last tour filled up quickly, so register early to ensure your spot. Call 208-354-1707 or email jen [at] tetonvalleyadvocates [dot] org; $15 per person; lunch and refreshments will be provided.
