As of Monday, September 8th, the golf tournament has been changed to Teton Springs. Sometimes, we at VARD are faced with tough policy decisions like the present issues with the re-design of Huntsman Springs, but we have to stay true to our mission:
To shape policy, guide development, and provide outreach to preserve natural resources, protect rural character, and promote vibrant communities in Teton Valley through civic action.
Over our 13 years of public advocacy work, we have come to tough impasses like this from time to time. In these situations, our mission comes before fundraising. Ultimately, that approach is always best for our organization and the public interest.
We remain firm in our public support for the present Huntsman park land exchange proposal, and all the benefits that a successful Huntsman resort can bring to our local economy. We are so thankful for the 4 years of fantastic tournaments that Huntsman has generously hosted, and we indeed looking forward to working (and golfing!) with Huntsman Springs in the future.
We have relocated our tournament to Teton Springs for the same day and time on Monday Sept 15th. We are so incredibly grateful for how gracious and accommodating the Teton Springs staff have been in working with us at the last minute to host a top notch tournament and reception. Right now, we have five remaining tournament spots, and the forecast is for sunny weather in the 70’s. It will be a great day for charity golf!

Early registration for 5th Annual VARD Golf Tournament & Reception at Huntsman Springs closes August 31st, 2014!
Valley Advocates for Responsible Development is pleased to team up again with the Golf Club at Huntsman Springs for the popular 5th Annual VARD Golf Tournament & Reception on Monday, September 15th! Experienced to novice golfers will have the opportunity for 18-holes of fun, tournament play at the magnificent 7,331-yard Huntsman Springs course designed by world-renowned architect, David McKay Kidd. Resting in the shadows of the Grand Teton and surrounded by beautiful natural terrain in Driggs, Idaho, this tournament offers a unique opportunity for the community to play the award-winning, private golf club, while contributing to a charity event for VARD. VARD will also offer a public post-tournament reception with delicious appetizers and drinks for the players and friends/non-golfers.
Proceeds from the tournament will be donated to VARD for their Reshaping Development Patterns project, a joint effort between VARD, the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy and the Sonoran Institute. The goals of the project are to plan for and provide sustainable solutions and best management practices for reshaping unsustainable development patterns in Teton Valley.
